Taxonomy, Inc. was created in 2003 to provide product classification consulting services.

d'Armond Speers, Ph.D. is the President and Chief Ontologist of Taxonomy Inc.  He earned his doctorate from Georgetown University in the field of linguistics, and has spent the past several years applying this background to the field of product classifications.  At Requisite Technology, Dr. Speers was the Director of Global Technology.  In this role he designed and oversaw the development and maintenance of Requisite Unifying Structure (RUS), Requisite's proprietary classification system.  RUS is a broad, industry-neutral system, including over 10,000 categories across 50 domains, available in 16 languages.

Dr. Speers is a former member of the Board of Directors of ECCMA, a non-profit standards management organization, a former member of the UNSPSC Steering Committee, and a former member of the eCl@ss Advisory Council.
